Brock University conducts a pilot of AI-powered writing feedback and study assistance

Over the Fall and Winter 2025-26 terms, close to 2,000 undergraduate students primarily enrolled in three first-year courses—Foundations of Psychology, Introduction to Health Sciences, and Transitions to University Sciences—will participate in an institutional pilot with Studiosity’s AI-powered writing feedback and study assist platforms.

This pilot is being conducted in partnership with the course instructors, the Centre for Pedagogical Innovation, and Learning Services with support from the Provost and Vice-President, Academic.

The tool has been formally reviewed and meets all the requirements of Brock University’s privacy, technology, and accessibility policies for teaching and learning.

The pilot will include a careful evaluation of the use of the platforms to determine whether the gains in course performance, retention, and student satisfaction witnessed at other post-secondary institutions are replicated at Brock University.

The pilot has room for additional participants for the Winter term. If you are an instructor teaching an introductory course and are interested in participating, or simply trying this tool yourself, please join this Brightspace site for more information.

Learning Services and the Centre for Pedagogical Innovation are available to answer questions about this pilot.
