Anna Lathrop has been appointed Acting Vice-Provost, Teaching & Learning and will serve in the role from September 1, 2025 to February 28, 2026. This six-month appointment will take place while Rajiv Jhangiani is on approved administrative leave.
Professor Lathrop currently serves as Special Advisor in the Office of the Provost and holds an appointment as Full Professor in the Department of Kinesiology in the Faculty of Applied Health Sciences.
Professor Lathrop has served in several administrative leadership positions at Brock, including Vice-Provost and Associate Vice-President, Students (2020-2022), Vice-Provost, Teaching, Learning, and Students Success (2015-2020), Vice-Provost, Teaching & Learning (2012-2015), Interim Dean, Faculty of Applied Health Sciences (2008-2009), and two terms as Associate Dean, Undergraduate Studies, Faculty of Applied Health Sciences (2005-2012).
Professor Lathrop’s teaching distinctions include the Brock University Distinguished Teaching Award (2000), OCUFA Teaching Award (2000), 3M Teaching Fellowship Award (2001), Ontario Leadership in Faculty Teaching Award (2008), Faculty of Applied Health Sciences Distinguished Alumni Award (2008), and the Brock University Chancellor’s Chair in Teaching Excellence (2012).
Anna holds an EdD degree from the University of Toronto in curriculum studies, an MA from Western University in sport history, and a BPhEd from Brock University. Her areas of research include the history of physical education and sport, children and physical activity, and pedagogy in higher education.
