Launch of the Non-Credit Programming Model

The Interim Provost & Vice-President, Academic is pleased to announce the launch of a Non-Credit Programming model for the University. This new model will provide a consistent approach to non-credit offerings, improve the efficient use of resources, enable more units to begin offering non-credit programs, and create a single point of contact for the coordination of payment and registration through Professional & Continuing Studies (PCS).

The Non-Credit Programming Model was developed in consultation with all Faculties and key stakeholders at the University, including those that currently have offerings in the non-credit space, as well as with Financial Services and People & Culture.

Under the new Non-Credit Programming Model, PCS will facilitate all non-credit offering program approval at the University, with responsibility for development costs (e.g., instructional design) and ongoing program review. PCS will also be responsible for non-credit programming budgets, including approval, pricing, hiring, marketing, and registration. Units interested in developing or offering non-credit programming will work with PCS to advise on potential offerings, including the recommendation of subject matter experts and potential audiences.

The new Non-Credit Programming Model applies across the institution, including to all Faculties and Departments.*

The launch and adoption of the new Non-Credit Programming Model will ensure that Brock is well positioned to support a wide range of non-credit programs across the University that are consistent, sustainable, and relevant to community members, professionals, and industry partners.

Any questions about the Non-Credit Programming Model can be directed to PCS at ce@brocku.ca.

* A hybrid model is implemented for the Goodman Group’s refocused executive education programming, as well as the Cool Climate Oenology and Viticulture Institute (CCOVI), though registration and marketing for these non-credit offerings too will be managed through PCS.
