Nicole Nolan has been appointed as Brock’s University Librarian, effective May 1, 2024. Nicole currently serves as the Interim University Librarian, and prior to that served as Associate University Librarian, Research since 2017. Nicole also took on the role of Acting University Librarian in 2022, while an administrative leave was being fulfilled.
During her time with Brock Library, Nicole has been involved with leading the implementation of the Library’s new Omni academic search tool; collaborating on the Building Better Research workshop series; co-chairing the Research Data Management Strategy Working Group; and contributing to the Library’s organizational redesign, among others. Nicole has also played a key role in promoting open educational resource initiatives, improving the affordability of learning materials for students, and fostering a culture of inclusivity within the library system at Brock. In addition to her work at Brock, Nicole has also been actively involved within the local community and currently serves as Vice-Chair for the Lincoln Pelham Public Library Board.
Nicole first joined Brock in 2017 from Western University, where she held several administrative positions with Western Libraries including Acting Assistant University Librarian, Services and Acting Director of the C.B. “Bud” Johnston Library (Business Library). Nicole has also served as a Lecturer at Western University in the Faculty of Information and Media studies, as well as at Wilfrid Laurier University in the Faculty of Economics and Business.
Nicole holds a Master of Library and Information Science and a Bachelor of Science in Ecology and Evolution from Western University.
