FEEDBACK: Review of Course Collection and Scheduling Practices

The University is launching a review of its course collection and scheduling practices. The project is guided by a steering committee that includes representatives from the Office of the Registrar and Enrolment Services (ORES), the Provost’s Office, and the Brock University Faculty Association. The steering committee’s work is supported by assistance from KPMG, which will lead the consultation and data analysis processes in order to formulate recommendations.

The scope of the review encompasses the evaluation of existing policies, procedures, and technologies employed in course collection and scheduling. The review will include a consideration of leading practices at other Ontario universities and make recommendations on potential areas for improvement. The review is expected to be complete by May 2024.

The University is committed to actively seeking feedback and suggestions from the campus community, including academic units and faculty members, on how best to improve course collection and scheduling practices. The consultation will include:

  • An online consultation portal for students, staff, faculty members and librarians to provide their thoughts and feedback on the University’s practices;
  • Meetings with senior leaders and staff from ORES, the Provost’s Office, and Information Technology Services (ITS);
  • Meetings with Deans, Department Chairs, Academic Advisors, and Administrative Assistants, who interact with the course collection and scheduling process;
  • Feedback from BUSU and GSA to understand student concerns;
  • Meetings with the executive of the Brock University Faculty Association.

Focus groups with faculty members, Department Chairs, Academic Advisors, and Administrative Assistants will take place early in the new year.

The online consultation portal is available now and will remain open to feedback until February 2, 2024.
