Holiday greetings from the Provost

Dear members of the Brock community,

As the end of the term approaches, I want to thank all students, staff, faculty members and librarians for their extraordinary efforts in these recent months. The Fall term has been like no other and has presented us with challenges beyond those we ever thought we would face. Yet your determination and resilience in the face of adversity is a testament to the strength of our spirit.

The latest news gives us reason to hope, showing us a light at the end of the tunnel, all the while reminding us that the fight against COVID-19 is not over yet. The Winter term months are likely to be defined by this tension. As vaccine becomes available, the temptation may be strong to return to normal as quickly as possible. We must continue to be careful, moving forward progressively and within the boundaries set by public health experts.

For this reason, I ask you all to take advantage of the holiday break to rest and prepare yourselves for the months ahead. The pandemic has placed additional demands on all of us and has affected us all in a myriad of ways. Sometimes we can recognize the signs of this stress, but in many times we cannot. Knowing that the holidays may look a bit different this year than what we are accustomed to, please take time to celebrate, to relax, and to be kind to yourself and others.

I wish you a pleasant and relaxing holiday season, however you might choose to celebrate it.

Sincerely,

Professor Lynn Wells, PhD
Provost & Vice-President, Academic
