My research focuses on family/informal caregiving for older adults with care needs in different cultural contexts. In my projects, I explore the psychosocial risk and resilience factors, as well as the consequences for health and well-being of sociodemographically diverse groups of informal caregivers and care recipients.

Of particular interest is the role of social stigma, including stereotypes, attitudes and discrimination of different groups in this highly complex context. This includes, for example, the exploration of pre- and descriptive stereotypes and attitudes targeting caregiving itself, the association of views of ageing and ageism with family/informal caregiving as well as the intersection of different forms of discrimination in this context of caregiving.
