SOPs and guideline forms

Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)

SOPs offer comprehensive, step-by-step guidelines for using facilities’ equipment, carrying out standard experimental and husbandry procedures. The SOP documents establish procedures that, when implemented, lead to proper care of animals and production of quality data. All the SOPs are available to authorized users on Brightspace and from Animal Care Committee (ACC) Coordinator. The SOPs are developed by taking input from ACS staff, veterinarians and faculty and are reviewed and approved by ACC. The SOPs that directly impact animal welfare are reviewed both on an ad hoc basis to accommodate new regulatory directives and every three years to ensure that their content is updated according to the latest Canadian Council on Animal Care (CCAC) guidelines for animal use and care.

The Principal Investigators (PIs) should include all the SOPs applicable to their research in their Animal Use Protocol application. If the relevant SOP is not available in the current SOP inventory, please reach out to ACC Coordinator at [email protected].
