This Fall 2025, the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) began an inspiring new chapter in leadership development through the Strategic Executive Leadership Certificate, created in partnership with Goodman Group at the Goodman School of Business. This custom program brings together the executive team from across the service to reflect, grow and strengthen how they lead, both individually and as a team.

From the very first session, the energy in the room has been unmistakable. Conversations have been candid, lively and full of purpose as participants explore what it means to lead with integrity, influence and empathy. Through a mix of dialogue, reflection and hands-on activities, leaders are examining how emotional intelligence, communication and collaboration shape the culture they build together. Sessions have sparked meaningful discussions about earning public trust, leading with ethics and inclusion, and guiding teams through times of challenge and renewal, all reinforcing NRPS’ commitment to strong, values-based leadership.

“This program is especially meaningful to us. It reflects our School’s commitment to being an ally to our community and to developing leaders whose impact reaches far beyond their organizations. We are continually inspired by the caliber of the participants’ leadership and by how humble, open, curious and committed everyone is,” said Yennis Camargo, Manager of Professional and Executive Development.

Instructor Dr. Angela Workman-Stark added, “I applaud the executive team for their remarkable commitment to strengthening their collective leadership. Dedicating an entire day each week to meaningful dialogue and reflection is truly exceptional. I don’t know of any other police service doing something like this.”

For participants, the experience has offered an opportunity to pause, reflect and realign around a shared vision for the organization’s future.   “This program has challenged me to think and reflect about my own leadership capacity, as well as the space to connect and strengthen how we lead as an executive team,” said Linda Blood, Director of Human Resources at NRPS. “Together with Goodman Group, we look forward to building stronger, strategically aligned and impactful leaders throughout our Service.”

As the program continues, the sense of connection and shared purpose within NRPS grows stronger, an inspiring reminder that leadership, at its core, is about growing together.
