On June 27, an air of accomplishment filled the halls of Pathstone Mental Health as they celebrated the graduation of their “Healthcare Business Executive Management Certificate” program. Custom-designed by Goodman Group, the program catered specifically to Pathstone’s needs, addressing critical topics for the healthcare sector, such as conflict management, leadership strategies, team dynamics, change management, and performance coaching.

The ceremony celebrated 26 graduates from Pathstone, Niagara Health, and Centre de Sante Communautaire Hamilton Niagara, who completed the intensive program aimed at enhancing their leadership capabilities within the context of mental health care. Participants praised the program for its curriculum tailored to support their organizational strategic goals. By equipping them with advanced skills in healthcare business management, the program prepared graduates to drive positive change within their respective organizations. Pathstone’s investment in their leaders’ development underscores their commitment to fostering a skilled workforce aligned with their mission to strengthen the quality of life for children, youth, and families facing mental health challenges.

Shaun Baylis, CEO of Pathstone, remarked, “Leadership makes a big difference in how things really function. I reviewed the content of the program and was amazed at the quality that went into it.” He was particularly pleased with the program’s inclusion of computer-based simulation exercises, which allowed participants to apply the program content. “Through these exercises, you were able to see how relationships play a big role in negotiations and how you position yourself, which is no different from the real world of organizations. I was glad to see you went through that,” he added.

France Vaillancourt, Executive Director of Centre de Sante Communautaire Hamilton Niagara, who also attended the program, highlighted the added bonus of networking with like-minded professionals. She appreciated the opportunity to strengthen the longstanding partnership between Centre de Sante Communautaire Hamilton Niagara and Pathstone, noting that getting to know the staff better helps solidify their relationship. “There were good conversations during the program grounded in reality, day-to-day life, and the struggles that managers/leaders go through, whether they are new or have been in leadership for several years,” she said.

As they embark on their leadership journey, these graduates carry with them the knowledge and skills to make a meaningful impact in the lives of those they serve, embodying their organizations’ vision and mission every step of the way. Congratulations to the participants from Pathstone, Niagara Health, and Centre de Sante Communautaire Hamilton Niagara! At Goodman Group, we love what we do, and working with organizations that prioritize their team’s skills is truly an honor!
