Achieving Leadership Potential – Insights from an Exclusive Executive Focus Group

On July 24, 2024, Goodman Group successfully hosted an Executive Focus Group, reaffirming our commitment to collaborating with industry leaders to create exceptional programs for executives and leaders. The event aimed to leverage the expertise and perspectives of accomplished leaders to inform the redesign of our upcoming Executive Leadership Certificate program.

The focus group brought together 12 executives from 11 different companies, namely Niagara Parks, Shaw Festival, Niagara Falls Convention Centre, Vintage Hotels, Skycomp Solutions, Quest Community Health Centre, Beatties, Birchway Niagara, Fena Insurance Solutions Inc, Miller’s Auto Recycling and Habitat for Humanity Niagara, representing diverse industries and areas of expertise. This diversity allowed us to gain insights into unique challenges and opportunities faced by executives across various sectors, fostering a rich exchange of ideas.

Moderated by Neil Thornton, our partner and lead instructor, alongside Yennis Camargo, manager of Goodman Group, the discussion highlighted several key areas. We explored the critical need for enhanced leadership and communication, team motivation and engagement, workplace well-being, workplace flexibility and robust change management strategies. The conversation also emphasized the importance of interpersonal and strategic leadership skills, underscoring the necessity for executives to have a long-term vision to navigate challenges and lead with resilience.

The conversation highlighted the significant impact executives have on their communities and their potential to drive positive change. Participants discussed how collaboration with the Goodman Group and the Goodman School of Business at Brock University, could further community growth and development. The session concluded on a positive note, with executives applauding Goodman Group’s efforts to foster camaraderie and support leaders in upskilling, ultimately benefiting the broader community.

At Goodman Group, we love what we do and are committed to continuously improving our programs to ensure they remain relevant, incorporating the latest content, technology, and instructional methods. We are now using the invaluable feedback gained from the focus group to develop the Executive Leadership Certificate Program.
