Assistant Professor (EdD, OCT)
Dr. Rochelle Guida is an Assistant Professor in Brock University’s French Program and Faculty of Education. Her research examines French as a Second Language (FSL) teacher education, with particular emphasis on language teacher identity, linguistic confidence and proficiency, teacher retention, cultural pedagogy, and CEFR-informed teaching and assessment. Her current collaborative work investigates DELF B2 preparation among future FSL teachers and the ways postsecondary language programs and faculties of education can better support teacher readiness, confidence, and long-term professional success.
Her doctoral research explored how Ontario FSL teachers who learned French as an additional language interpreted curriculum and approached cultural teaching, while her master’s research examined teachers’ experiences implementing Ontario’s revised FSL curriculum. Her broader scholarship addresses cultural pluralism, online and hybrid language teaching, educational technology, and inclusive language teacher education. Her work has appeared in the Canadian Modern Language Review, Cahiers de l’ILOB/OLBI Journal, and various publications of the Canadian Association of Second Language Teachers.
A certified Ontario educator, Dr. Guida has more than fifteen years of experience teaching French, Italian, and English as an additional language from preschool through postsecondary education.
