Community Coach Day

The coaching profession has experienced a significant shift in terms of professional development expectations, particularly in regards to athlete mental health and wellness.

In a partnership with the Coaching Association of Canada and the Coaches Association of Ontario we are proud to present the Community Coach Day at the Canada Games on August 13th, 2022.

In this workshop, you will have the opportunity to expand your mental health toolbox, learning about evidence-based strategies and resources that can assist you and your athletes.

Important topics will include:

• Understanding the difference and intersectionality between mental health, mental illness,
and mental performance
• Unpacking your role and “duty of care” as a champion in sport
• Recognizing and addressing signs and symptoms of distress in yourself and others
• Determining how to have “critical conversations” related to mental health
• Establishing and navigating the adoption of a “self” and “athlete” mental health plan
• Expanding your knowledge around provincial and national resources and support

Our goal is to provide you with a clear roadmap on how to promote and optimize mental health and wellness, both in and outside of sport.
