To have “good” sport and recreation in Niagara we must support healthy, confident, and capable leaders. Whether you are a small business owner, volunteer, coach, sponsor, or someone involved in physical activity programming… we all need to understand the risk facing sport in our backyard.

This workshop highlights the complexity of sport markets and sectors and the future trends that you will face, such as:

  • Good governance to build a healthy sport and recreation environment;
  • Risk management to address immediate high-level risks and pressing issues;
  • Safety to ensure a positive sport experience for all;
  • Inclusion and diversity to embrace all participants;
  • Values-based leadership to guide difficult decision-making;
  • Legal ‘best practices’ to meet mandatory regulations and legislation.

By assisting confident, capable professionals and volunteers in Niagara’s sport and recreation sector, the 2024 Hope on the Horizon workshop supports those – such as you – who contribute to a thriving and sustainable community.

You will meet other people involved in sport – who are just as passionate as you are about the value sport and recreation brings to our community and economy. Through the exchange of knowledge, skills, and experiences during this workshop, you will be empowered to navigate the ever-arising complexities of sport and recreation.

The focus on ethical practices and effective leadership will inspire positive change and guide in you in setting new standards for safe and inclusive sport.
