What is the Women and Sport Summit?
The Centre for Sport Capacity was proud to partner with Universidad Peruana de Ciencias Aplicadas, and The Olympic Studies Centre on March,8th, 2024, from 1-3pm in Welch Hall room 147. This workshop focused on women leaders in sport and their experiences in the sport industry, aiming to inspire more women to grab hold of more leadership roles in sports.
What was gained by attending? An understanding of Women in sport, the struggles they face, along with an understanding of important skills and habits that are key to achieving success in the sports industry.
Speakers
Annick Taverniers serves as the Paralympic Games Director for the International Paralympic Committee. With extensive experience in sports administration, she has played key roles in organizing events like the Bolivarian Games and the Pan American and Parapan American Games
Carolyn Bannister is a Workforce and Volunteer Manager, who has previously worked for the FIFA Women’s World Cup in 2023. She has diverse international experiences in People & Culture, Event Management, Operations, and Project Management. Her HR expertise includes strategic planning, talent management, and organizational development.
Michele Formente is the executive director of the Americas Paralympic Committee. She has over 20 years of experience in clinical and public policy work focusing on vulnerable populations. She has experience in various countries and possess knowledge of public policies in developed and developing countries.
