Adjunct Professor
Yana Berardini, PhD, is an Assistant Professor in the Child and Youth Studies Department at Trent University. Her research program examines the mental health and wellness of vulnerable, equity-seeking children and youth and more recently, the urgently needed advocacy work and policy-driven initiatives surrounding young caregivers. Young caregivers shoulder essential caregiving responsibilities for family members with an illness, disability, addiction, mental health concerns, or age-related needs. Yana’s research explores their experiences in relation to mental health, program outcomes, and policy development. She collaborates with the Students Commission of Canada and multiple young caregiving organizations to ensure that youth voice is at the core of her research.
