Building Canada-Nigeria Trade Capability

In March 2024, the Goodman Group, in collaboration with the Rome Business School, Nigeria (RBSN) delivered the highly successful Canadian Business for Internationally Trained Professionals program (CBITP) to its first cohort of global learners. The CBITP Program was purpose-built to to meet the commercial and trade interests of corporate executives and public sector leaders from across Nigeria with the aim of fostering social, economic and development ties between Canada and Nigeria.

The CBITP program was designed to meet the diverse needs of our learner group – globally experienced Nigerian business executives and public sector leaders – aiming to supplement their experience and knowledge to effectively operate within a Canadian business context.

Day 1

  • Intro to Management and Canadian Culture I

  • Business Law & Ethics
  • Business Communications

Day 3

  • Sales, Marketing & Customer Service in Canada
  • Ontario Financial and Managerial Accounting

Day 4

  • Operations Management in Canada
  • Human Resource Management in Canada

Day 5

  • Change Management Practices in Canada I
  • Change Management Practices in Canada II

By the end the week, CBITP program participants:

  • Demonstrated understanding of Canadian business culture, including management fundamentals, business law, ethics, and communication skills, essential for successful integration into the Canadian marketplace.
  • Evaluated and analyzed practical day-to-day challenges in the Canadian marketplace through exposure to local industry and business leaders, enabling the application of theory to real-life executive scenarios.
  • Applied technical knowledge and capabilities in Canadian business management, such as accounting, marketing, and operations management, capable of addressing executive-level challenges in Canadian business.
  • Collaboratively developed innovative solutions to real-world business problems through capstone initiatives, showcasing the value of shared vision and the benefits of teamwork among executives.
