2024 Save on Energy Energy Management Excellence Award
Brock was recognised as the winner of the Save on Energy’s Energy Manager program for institutions in 2024 for their excellence and innovation in the energy sector. The majority of the energy reductions came as part of the electrification project – which was completed through a partnership with Blackstone Energy Services. The project included LED lighting retrofits, HVAC replacement, BAS modernization, a custom SCADA system in the central plant and revised design parameters for sustainable construction on campus. Additional staff training on energy management and sustainability competitions for students also played a role in the award-winning effort. Brock is now looking to carry the momentum through the completion of the SPARK initiative and into the future.
Canada Clean50 Outstanding Contributor to Clean Capitalism
Brock University and Blackstone Energy Services were recognized with a Canada Clean50 Top Project Award for the BlackPAC™ energy management platform installed in 2025. The system uses real time data from campus buildings to optimize and decarbonize the energy system, leading to reduced emissions and major progress towards Brock’s net-zero goals.
