Electric Vehicle Charging

Brock University offers EV charging options through ChargePoint.

There are 22 ports across 13 stations on campus for Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEVs) and Electric Vehicles (EVs). Charging is available while parked and billed through the ChargePoint app, using electricity from nearby campus buildings.

Important:

  • Parking in an EV charging space without an EV, or parking an EV without plugging in, will result in ticketing in accordance with the Highway Traffic Act.
  • All vehicles charging must follow Brock University Parking Rules and Regulations.
  • Before charging, vehicles must pay for parking via the  HONK Mobile app or hold a valid Brock parking permit (except Lot 2 permits).

Electric Vehicle Charging Stations FAQ

If you do not already have a ChargePoint account, please download the ChargePoint App to your mobile device and create an account to get started.

Once you park at the station, open the ChargePoint app on your smart device and ‘tap’ the device to the ChargePoint station screen. This will unlock the cable from the station for you to plug in your vehicle.

Don’t forget to validate your parking with a HONK receipt or having any valid Brock University parking permit.

Charging Stations are subject to Brock’s Parking Rules & Regulations and users must validate their parking with HONK for that lot or with a valid Brock University parking permit.

Charging your vehicle costs:

  • $2.75 an hour at a Level 2 Charger
  • $9.75 an hour at a Level 3 Charger

As of September 1, 2025

  • $2.25 an hour at a Level 2 Charger
  • $0.30 per kWh at a Level 3 Charger

ChargePoint Fees continue to accumulate after the battery is fully charged and only stops once the vehicle is unplugged.

Electric vehicle charging spaces are enforced like all other parking spaces. Two types of tickets may be issued:

  1. Obstructing a charging station: Any vehicle parked in an EV charging space without being plugged in—regardless of vehicle type—will receive a ticket in accordance with the Highway Traffic Act guidelines.
  2. Failure to validate parking: Any vehicle charging without a HONK receipt or a valid Brock University parking permit will be ticketed. (Note: Lot 2 permits are not valid for EV charging.)

For full details, please review the  Rules and Regulations.

Any compatible Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEVs) or Electric Vehicles (EVs) can charge their vehicle at a ChargePoint electric vehicle charging station. Charging Stations are subject to Brock’s Parking Rules & Regulations and must validate their parking with a HONK receipt for that lot or with any valid Brock parking permit. (Note: Lot 2 permits are not valid for EV charging.)
