Motherhood has long been idealized as a site of unconditional love, sacrifice, and renewal, yet the horror genre reveals its darker undercurrents–the spaces where fear, violence, and survival converge.

On 28 Oct. 2026 our GPD, Dr. Cristina Santos, alongside her co-editors Sarah Revilla-Sanchez and Rachel Vandivier Davidson, participated in her book launch for Horror and Mother/hoods in Global Cultural Imaginaries: Representations Across Literature, Television and Art at Little Ghosts Books organized by Demeter Press.
Present at the event were 2 HUMA students, Marley Liepert and Genevieve Jones who performed an excerpt of her creative piece “Mrs. Jaws at the Edge of the World.”
