The Campaign for a Bold New Brock

Facility Details

The result of this collaboration and vision is a new downtown site for the Marilyn I. Walker School of Fine and Performing Arts and a new St. Catharines Downtown Performing Arts Centre. The new facility will provide:

  • A complete range of educational facilities (studios, classrooms, offices, laboratories, lecture halls, etc.) in support of all departments at the Marilyn I. Walker School of Fine and Performing Arts.
  • A dedicated theatre of 235 seats for the Marilyn I. Walker School of Fine and Performing Arts dramatic arts program, along with four rehearsal/teaching/research studios.
  • A 285 seat recital hall, used primarily by the Marilyn I. Walker School of Fine and Performing Arts as a music performance, rehearsal, and classroom venue, but also available to community-based and centre-presented programming.
  • A film theatre of 185 seats, to be used by the Marilyn I. Walker School of Fine and Performing Arts for classes.

The project is a $97-million investment: $54 million for the City of St. Catharines’ multi-venue arts complex, and $43 million for education and research space in the Marilyn I. Walker School of Fine and Performing Arts. By working together and sharing performance facilities, both the community arts groups and Brock students will benefit and make the project more cost effective for the community and Brock.
