Message from the President...
Greetings Fellow Alumni,
As the returning President of the Brock University Alumni Association it again gives me great pleasure to continue advancing the micro and macro interests of the Alumni Association Board and all 75,000+ Alumnus that graduated over the past forty eight years.
The Alumni Association Board continues to expand and attract talented alumni, all with the same passion and commitment as our returning members. Our Board is committed to providing opportunities for alumni to engage with other alumni, support activities that highlight our alumni’s achievements and involve current students as future stakeholders of our Association. This coming year as we develop a new three-year strategic plan for the Alumni Association, we will focus on stronger communication and advocacy, both internal and external to the University.
As 2012 comes to an end, we note what an important year it was for Brock University - the University opened the newly completed Cairns Complex and welcomed a new name for the School of Business, the Goodman School of Business. Brock University celebrated the recognition of our University’s namesake, Major General Sir Isaac Brock, as part of the nation’s bi-centennial of the War of 1812. On October 11, Brock University hosted 350 alumni and friends for the 5th annual General Brock's October Soirée, kicking off a weekend of events in the Niagara region. The Soiree showcased students from the Marilyn I. Walker School of Fine and Performing Arts and raised funds for the school and its students and faculty. Earlier in the year, the University announced it had received a $1 million gift from a donor for the purpose of building a permanent commemoration to Major General Sir Isaac Brock on the University’s main campus. Plans are underway to see that project completed in time for Brock University’s 50th anniversary in 2014.
There is always something happening for our alumni so be sure to keep up to date about Brock and your alumni association by following us through Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn or checking the website from time to time!
