“Several Brock University students were given the incredible opportunity to compete at National Model United Nations. National Model United Nations is the largest and most renowned United Nations simulation event in the world accommodating over 5000 students from over 400 universities around the globe. The event took place in New York City as it does every year, where we stayed at the impressive Times Square Sheraton Hotel. We were fortunate to be able to talk and attend seminars with real diplomats including permanent United States diplomat Samantha Power, compete against universities from all over the world, and attend a debrief in the United Nations General Assembly. It was one of the best experiences I have had at my time at Brock University.”
— Alex Hobbs, Founder and Past President of Brock NMUN
“A group of students were able to participate in a new initiative called Brock Women in House. Women in House, only running at few select universities, provides the amazing opportunity to experience what it’s like to be a woman in Canadian politics by shadowing a female MP in Ottawa. Participants were able to sit in on various committees, parliamentarian groups and judicial lectures. They met officials from NGOs, such as the Secretary General of Amnesty International Canada, throughout their day and a few were even able to witness the historic Supreme Court decision of Carter v. Canada. As a whole, Women in House was an incredible experience. Definitely a highlight of my time at Brock.
