Primary Division ABQ

Primary Division focuses on educating the active, curious primary child in Kindergarten to grade 3. We begin our exploration with who the primary child is, and some key characteristics, understand the different theories of education and use the knowledge of early childhood development to support primary learners, and pedagogy (e.g., play, inquiry). We continue by building our instructional toolbox for the primary classroom including strategies for planning and assessment and explore program considerations for the various Ontario curriculum areas. We will learn the importance of creating positive and inclusive environments for student learning. We will learn how to nurture critical thinkers who are risk takers, global citizens, and successful problem solvers, and learners who persevere in the face of challenges.

Through conversation, reflection and inquiry and active exploration, we will build on the understanding we each bring to the learning community and extend our learning, as a collective. The online course offers convenient, supportive, and flexible access, enabling time to read, view, reflect, respond, and develop new skills, knowledge and understanding.
