Principal's Qualification Program, Part 2

Brock University’s PQP II is the second part of the program designed to explore the theoretical and operational aspects of the principalship in more depth, to increase leadership capacity and foster school improvement through a blend of coursework and the completion of a leadership practicum. Candidates will analyze issues and develop strategies for identifying and removing barriers at school and system levels. The program allows candidates to explore the leadership domains within the Ontario Leadership Framework; lead and manage in contexts characterized by change and complexity; identify and respond to systemic barriers while developing personal and professional capacity.

Program Information

What you’ll learn studying Principal’s Qualification Program, Part 2:

  • Explores the theoretical and operational aspects of the principalship in more depth including leadership, program planning, and executing the Leadership Practicum Proposal.
  • Provide a comprehensive foundation to prepare your role as a school administrator that includes coursework developing your Administrative Vitae with a school entry plan reflecting the Ontario Leadership and Anti-Oppressive Framework.
  • Build upon the knowledge and understanding of the multifaceted responsibilities inherent in the role of a school principal from PQP1 including principals as change agents, legal obligations and responsibilities in more detail, and further development of your leadership capacity and accountability.
  • Use current research and theories to create a thorough understanding of safe and accepting schools and culturally responsive relationships.
  • Execute the Leadership Practicum guided by the Ontario Leadership and Anti-Oppressive Framework. The Leadership Practicum provides an opportunity for candidates to engage as a member of a school administrative team in a leadership role working with learners, educators, families, Elders, Knowledge Keepers and Knowledge Guardians, caregivers, and the community.

There are no additional resources required for this course.

Technology

  • Laptop/PC: Windows 10 or higher or equivalent operating system with recommended 8 GB of RAM and at least 16 GB of free hard disk space and Wi-Fi capabilities.
  • Access to reliable  high-speed broadband internet access (Cable, DSL, LTE) with a minimum bandwidth of 15 Mbps is recommended.
  • Included integrated webcam and microphone recommended.

Prerequisites

  • OCT MEMBERSHIP showing completion of PQP Part 2

To successfully complete your program, you will complete all components of the program. Your progress will be continuously evaluated using a variety of formative and/or summative assessments to receive a final mark. Information about these assessment methods will be provided in the Learning Management System on the first day of the program.

Intake Details

For ASY- Asynchronous Online delivery of this course, the course will have a set start and finish date, along with set due dates for assignments and assessments. This does not require real-time communications. However, instructors may arrange optional real-time online group discussions during your course. You will not be required to be on-campus for any reason.
