Intermediate: Health and Physical Education ABQ

This course is designed to prepare you to meet the needs of the intermediate learner in Health and Physical Education. You will explore and enhance professional practice, program planning and leadership within the Intermediate Division. You will extend professional knowledge, skills and pedagogies within H&PE and explore the theoretical foundations associated with supporting the adolescent learner.

Health and Physical Education employs a critical, pedagogical lens to explore in a holistic and integrated manner theoretical foundations, learning theory, program planning, development and implementation, instructional design and practices, assessment and evaluation, the learning environment, research and ethical considerations related to teaching and learning across the divisions. Through these explorations, you will strengthen professional efficacy by gaining in-depth knowledge, refining professional judgment and generating new knowledge for practice.

Prerequisites

  • OCT MEMBERSHIP confirming you are an OCT member with an undergraduate degree.
  • UNDERGRADUATE/GRADUATE UNIVERSITY TRANSCRIPT(S)
    Your transcript(s) must show: The equivalent of 2.0 full undergraduate/graduate courses in Kinesiology or experience playing/coaching high level sports is accepted in lieu of Undergraduate credits.

To successfully complete your program, you will complete all components of the program. Your progress will be continuously evaluated using a variety of formative and/or summative assessments to receive a final mark. Information about these assessment methods will be provided in the Learning Management System on the first day of the program.

Intake Details

For ASY- Asynchronous Online delivery of this course, the course will have a set start and finish date, along with set due dates for assignments and assessments. This does not require real-time communications. However, instructors may arrange optional real-time online group discussions during your course. You will not be required to be on-campus for any reason.
