What you’ll learn studying Intermediate: History ABQ:

  • Identify and analyze the characteristics of adolescent learners to tailor instructional approaches effectively in the history classroom.
  • Explore and apply a range of creative learning strategies suitable for engaging adolescent learners in the study of history.
  • Evaluate current assessment procedures in history education to inform effective assessment practices that align with curriculum expectations.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the structure and implementation procedures of Ministry of Education documents relevant to history education.
  • Develop the knowledge and skills necessary to become an effective history teacher, encompassing pedagogical approaches, content expertise, and classroom management strategies.
  • Recognize and articulate the significance of studying history in the 21st century, including its relevance to critical thinking, citizenship, and understanding contemporary societal issues.

Technology

  • Laptop/PC: Windows 10 or higher or equivalent operating system with recommended 8 GB of RAM and at least 16 GB of free hard disk space and Wi-Fi capabilities.
  • Access to reliable  high-speed broadband internet access (Cable, DSL, LTE) with a minimum bandwidth of 15 Mbps is recommended.
  • Included integrated webcam and microphone recommended.

Prerequisites

  • OCT MEMBERSHIP confirming you are an OCT member with an undergraduate degree.
  • UNDERGRADUATE/GRADUATE UNIVERSITY TRANSCRIPT(S)
    Your transcript(s) must show: The equivalent of 2.0 full undergraduate/graduate credits in history and of those, at least a half credit must be in Canadian History

To successfully complete your program, you will complete all components of the program. Your progress will be continuously evaluated using a variety of formative and/or summative assessments to receive a final mark. Information about these assessment methods will be provided in the Learning Management System on the first day of the program.

Intake Details

For ASY- Asynchronous Online delivery of this course, the course will have a set start and finish date, along with set due dates for assignments and assessments. This does not require real-time communications. However, instructors may arrange optional real-time online group discussions during your course. You will not be required to be on-campus for any reason.
