
This course focuses on the Grade 9 and 10 Family Studies curriculum, a multidisciplinary subject encompassing fashion and housing, food and nutrition, general family studies and raising/caring for children. You will learn to instruct students in theoretical perspectives and practical research related to individual and family development. The emphasis is on planning and implementing culturally responsive, inclusive and accessible programming and assessment that supports all learners and reflects contemporary family realities.

- OCT MEMBERSHIP confirming you are an OCT member with an undergraduate degree.
- UNDERGRADUATE/GRADUATE UNIVERSITY TRANSCRIPT(S) Your transcript(s) must show: The equivalent of 2.0 full undergraduate/graduate credits in related to the family. Courses from many disciplines are acceptable (i.e., Psychology, Sociology, Child & Youth Studies, Women’s Studies, Gender Studies, Health, Fashion, etc.).

This is an asynchronous, cohort based, instructor-led course with defined start date, end date and specific module due dates. Learners are not expected to be online at a certain time of day, but they are expected to work through the material alongside other learners. Learners should expect to spend 16-18 hours on coursework throughout each week to stay on track.
To successfully complete your program, you will complete all components of the program. Your progress will be continuously evaluated using a variety of formative and/or summative assessments to receive a final mark. Information about these assessment methods will be provided in the Learning Management System on the first day of the program.
