Intermediate: English ABQ

The Intermediate English ABQ is designed for educators transitioning to teaching Grades 7-10 English, bridging the world of Elementary Language Arts and Secondary English. Grounded in the Ontario College of Teachers Ethical Standards for the Teaching Profession and the Standards of Practice for the Teaching Profession, this course fosters critical reflection, inquiry and dialogue addressing current issues and challenges in literacy instruction and program design.

In Intermediate English ABQ, candidates will explore developmental theories, differentiated instruction and inclusive assessment and evaluation strategies that align with the Ontario English curriculum and policies. Through collaborative learning and practical applications, candidates will examine relevant articles and exemplars from current educators.

This course will provide candidates with a foundation to build their classroom resources and materials, including designing a unit plan.  Candidates will apply learning through peer discussions and receive ongoing feedback on practical projects before implementing them in a classroom.
