Program Information
What you’ll learn studying Health & Physical Education: Primary and Junior, Part 1:
- Develop a deep understanding of the evolving standards and practices in Health and Physical Education to effectively adapt teaching methods and curriculum.
- Create an inclusive, safe, and engaging learning environment that respects and embraces diverse student identities and needs.
- Integrate literacy, inquiry, and numeracy skills into Health and Physical Education lessons to enhance learning outcomes across subjects.
- Create an active learning environment that supports students’ physical, cognitive, and affective development, focusing on active living, movement competence, and healthy living.
- Understand and apply legal frameworks, high-risk activity management protocols, and health and safety considerations in Health and Physical Education settings.
- Utilize culturally responsive and relevant pedagogy to ensure that all students feel represented and valued in the classroom.

Prerequisites
- OCT Membership with qualifications in either Primary or Junior division
To successfully complete your program, you will complete all components of the program. Your progress will be continuously evaluated using a variety of formative and/or summative assessments to receive a final mark. Information about these assessment methods will be provided in the Learning Management System on the first day of the program.
Intake Details
For ASY- Asynchronous Online delivery of this course, the course will have a set start and finish date, along with set due dates for assignments and assessments. This does not require real-time communications. However, instructors may arrange optional real-time online group discussions during your course.
