Greetings from the Department of Music! We welcome all enquiries from prospective students interested in our music program. If you would like a tour of the Department, or have any questions about our audition day or our program, please don't hesitate to contact us.
The audition day consists of the following:
- an information session about our music program
- a written theory assessment (Gr. II Rudiments RCM level: scales, intervals, triads, rhythm and meter, cadences, etc.)
- an aural/vocal assessment (sight-singing and ear training)
- an interview
- a keyboard proficiency assessment (Gr. IV RCM level in piano recommended)
- a vocal or instrumental audition (classical repertoire preferred)
NOTES:
- For BMus, three contrasting works or movements are required (minimum Gr. IX RCM or equivalent level) Singers, pianists and guitarists who wish to be considered for BMus must have their pieces memorized.
- For BA, two contrasting works or movements are required (minimum Gr. V RCM or equivalent level)
- Our programs involve instruction in classical repertoire only; please bear this in mind if you choose to include a non-classical selection in your audition
Please arrive at 9:45 a.m. You will probably finish the process around 4:30 p.m. If needed, an accompanist is available for a charge of $40.00 payable at the audition, but please make this request when you book your audition date. You may also provide your own accompanist.

To confirm your audition date, fill out and mail the Audition-Application Form* and a cheque for $35.00 (payable to "Brock University") two weeks prior to your audition.
