MA Applied Linguistics (TESL) Scholarship

Our department offers one scholarship award to an incoming student admitted to the MA Applied Linguistics (TESL) program. While all incoming Direct Entry students are eligible to apply, preference will be given to applicants intending to complete a thesis. The award is approximately $5,000 for MA in Applied Linguistics (TESL) studies at Brock University only. Applicants must have a minimum average of 80% in the TESL program and will be selected based on their entry grades and a two-page essay. This scholarship is in addition to the standard funding package offered to successful applicants.

Selection Criteria:

  • Academic achievement, as demonstrated through transcripts and supporting evidence (e.g., academic awards, highly successful term papers).

  • A two-page essay (approximately 1,000 words) in which applicants explain why they are a strong candidate for the MA Applied Linguistics (TESL) Scholarship. The essay should address the applicant’s academic background, previous awards, research interests, and any other directly relevant factors.

  • Demonstrated interest in Applied Linguistics, including relevant professional, academic, or volunteer experience.
