The following is a list of thesis defences taking place between Monday, Jan. 26 and Friday, Jan. 30.

Master of Science in Chemistry thesis defence

Hedieh Lotfian, a Master of Science in Chemistry candidate, will defend the thesis “Catalytic and Non-Catalytic Hydroetherification-type Reactivity of Fluorinated Compounds” on Wednesday, Jan. 28 at noon in PLZ 601C.

Master of Arts in Applied Disabilities Studies thesis defence   

Joseph Chase Bognar, a Master of Arts in Applied Disabilities Studies candidate, will defend the thesis “Breaking the Walls: Exploring Inclusion Through Video Gaming” on Monday, Jan. 26 from 10 a.m. to noon in PLZ 600F.

Master of Arts in Child and Youth Studies thesis defence 

Jillian Ludwig, a Master of Arts in Child and Youth Studies candidate, will defend the thesis “Exploring Young People’s Experiences with Companion Animal Death during Emerging Adulthood Using an Interpretive Phenomenological Analysis” on Tuesday, Jan. 27 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. in PLZ 600F.

Master of Arts in Applied Linguistics thesis defence 

Bahar Forouzandeh Sharaki, a Master of Arts in Applied Linguistics candidate, will defend the thesis “Exploring Narrative Skill Differences in Monolingual and Bilingual Children with Developmental Language Disorder” on Wednesday, Jan. 28 from 10 a.m. to noon in PLZ 600F.

Master of Arts in Critical Sociology thesis defence  

Ben Sterling, a Master of Arts in Critical Sociology candidate, will defend the thesis “Ending the Carceral Cycle Early: An Abolitionist Approach to Youth Justice In Canada” on Friday, Jan. 30 from 10 a.m. to noon in PLZ 600F.

Master of ​Science in Applied Health Sciences (Kinesiology) thesis defence

Claire Buckridan, a Master of Science in Applied Health Sciences candidate, will defend the thesis “The Effects of Anteriorly Added Weight on Gait Performance During an Obstacle Avoidance Task” on Thursday, Jan. 29 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in WC 204.
