MEDIA ADVISORY — MAY 6, 2026 — R0037
Media are invited to Brock University on Friday, May 15 to observe disaster simulation training led by the Department of Nursing.
Held at the University’s East Academic building, the “code orange” exercise will simulate a mass casualty event, the details of which have not been disclosed to participating students.
Nursing students will respond to the simulated emergency, using their skills and knowledge to rapidly triage high-fidelity mannequin patients and live actors portraying victims.
To closely imitate a real-life disaster zone, emergency medical services and firefighters will join the scene, with special effects also used.
This immersive educational experience provides Nursing students with valuable hands-on emergency preparedness training in a safe and controlled environment, demonstrating the University’s commitment to experiential learning.
Photos and video of the simulation will be permitted. Interview opportunities will be available following the exercise.
Media can email Maryanne St. Denis, Associate Director, Strategic Communications, at [email protected] to confirm their attendance and arrange parking.
