MEDIA ADVISORY – MAY 9, 2025 – R0059
Media are invited to Brock University on Friday, May 16 to observe emergency simulation training led by the Department of Nursing.
Held at the University’s East Academic building, the “code orange” exercise will simulate a mass casualty incident, the details of which have not been disclosed to participating students.
During the exercise, Nursing students will be tasked with rapidly triaging high-fidelity mannequin patients and live actors portraying victims. To imitate a real-life disaster zone, the scene will include special effects designed to replicate the urgency and intensity of a mass casualty incident.
This safe, immersive and educational experience provides valuable hands-on emergency preparedness training for Nursing students and demonstrates Brock University’s commitment to hands-on learning.
Interested media can email Maryanne St. Denis, Associate Director, Strategic Communications, at [email protected] to confirm their attendance and arrange parking. Photos and video will be permitted, and interview opportunities will be available following the exercise.
