Brock University marks 104th Convocation Friday

More than 1,000 students are set to graduate from Brock University Friday, Oct. 12 during Fall Convocation.

During two ceremonies at 10 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. inside Brock’s Ian Beddis Gymnasium, 694 undergraduate and 320 graduate students will be conferred. Among those, 207 are international students.

The morning ceremony will include students from the Faculties of Social Sciences, Education and Humanities. The afternoon ceremony is for students in the Faculties of Applied Health Sciences, Goodman School of Business and Math and Science.

Two of the awards being handed out Friday are the Governor General’s Silver Medals, awarded to the two students with the highest academic standing out of all graduates from the 2018 Convocation ceremonies. Physics student Bill Truong finished with a 97 per cent average and Mathematics and Statistics student Rachel Clemens had a 95 per cent average.

Also being awarded Friday are three Spirit of Brock medals to students who best represent the spirit of Maj.-Gen. Sir Isaac Brock, as well as two faculty awards.

Convocation ceremonies are free to attend and no tickets are required. Parking is free for guests. Live broadcasts of the ceremonies will be available at Brocku.ca/livestream

Media are welcome to attend Brock’s Fall Convocation. Photographers shooting from directly in front of the stage are asked to wear a Convocation gown, which must be arranged in advance.
