Goodman remains among world’s best with prestigious business accreditation

MEDIA RELEASE: 19 April 2018 – R00082

Brock University’s Goodman School of Business has reaffirmed its place among the world’s most acclaimed business programs.

The business school has been re-accredited by AACSB International—The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), the longest serving and most prestigious global accrediting body for business schools.

Fewer than five per cent of business degree-granting institutions around the world achieve an AACSB accreditation, the highest standard of achievement for business schools.

The re-accreditation is effective for the next five years and is an indication of Goodman’s commitment to continuous improvement and excellence in business education.

In January, Brock hosted a peer-review team comprised of senior leadership from other business schools across North America to assess Goodman’s academic curriculum, staff support and research activities against the international accreditation standards.

“This accreditation is not just about meeting the standards, it recognizes that there are always things to continuously improve upon,” said Goodman School of Business Dean Andrew Gaudes. Goodman has been steadily identifying areas where the business school excels and can improve upon so that they can be addressed to exceed the AACSB expectations.

“This is a tremendous accomplishment for Goodman to continue with AACSB accreditation since 2002,” Gaudes said. “We continue to be confident that we not only meet the accreditation but also excel in this space in comparison to other business schools around the world.”

Goodman’s AACSB accreditation covers its six degree programs.

Throughout the review process, Goodman’s program size, faculty enthusiasm and experiential education opportunities, particularly through Service-Learning, were noted as key areas of strength.

“AACSB congratulates the Goodman School of Business on extending its accreditation,” said Stephanie M. Bryant, Executive Vice-President and Chief Accreditation Officer of AACSB International.

“The intense peer-review process confirms a school’s continued focus on excellence in all areas, including teaching, research, curricula development and student learning. Goodman’s dedication to delivering high quality business education will create the next generation of great leaders.”
