Saturday exams at Brock University cancelled as ice storm looms

MEDIA RELEASE: 13 April 2018 – R00075

Brock University is cancelling all exams scheduled for Saturday, April 14 after Environment Canada declared the growing likelihood of an ice storm this weekend.

To minimize travel and protect personal safety, exams scheduled for Saturday will now take place on Thursday, April 26. Times and location will be posted next week.

Some 55 exams had been scheduled for throughout the day Saturday, starting in the morning and running until 10 p.m.

In addition, the annual Sankey Lecture hosted by Brock’s Department of History that was scheduled for Sunday has been cancelled and will be rescheduled at a later date.

Brock Sports’ weekend swimming lessons and first aid classes are moving forward as scheduled for those who choose to make the trip in, however participants are encouraged to allow extra travel time.

Anyone else coming to campus this weekend for public or other non-academic activities should check with organizers to confirm if the events are still taking place.

An alert from Environment Canada indicated that freezing rain is expected to start in much of southern Ontario on Saturday morning and continue into the evening.
