Program Information

What you’ll learn studying Human Resource Management:

  • Estimate organizational human resource demand and supply.
  • Analyze staffing needs and build talent acquisition and organization succession plans.
  • Explore the effects of legislation on minimum employment standards, human rights, diversity, equity, workplace safety, and health.
  • Identify effective performance management, compensation, and incentive systems and how they support employee attraction, engagement, development, and retention.
  • Use dispute resolution frameworks to address a variety of workplace issues in unionized and unrepresented workplaces.
  • Discover the HR department’s primary responsibilities and the tools used to fulfil these responsibilities.
  • Suggest different HR approaches to improve organizational performance.
  • Examine the connection between organizational and human resource strategies and how one influences the other.

Prerequisites

  • No prerequisites are required to take this course.

Technology Requirements

  • General computer and technology use abilities.
  • Laptop: Windows 10 or higher or equivalent operating system with recommended 8 GB of  RAM and at least 16 GB of free hard disk space and Wi-Fi capabilities.
  • Laptop with integrated webcam and microphone recommended.
  • Access to reliable high-speed broadband internet access (Cable, DSL, LTE) with a minimum bandwidth of 15 Mbps is recommended.

To successfully complete your program, you will complete all components of the program. Your progress will be continuously evaluated using a variety of formative and/or summative assessments to receive a final mark. Information about these assessment methods will be provided in the Learning Management System on the first day of the program. 

Intake details

A fully asynchronous online course does not require real-time communications. Asynchronous online courses do not have the required on-campus components, including assessments. The course will have a set start and finish date and set due dates for assignments and assessments. Please see the registration page for upcoming intake class times.
