This micro-credential engages participants in discussions on climate change’s profound impact, exploring science, personal actions, and providing tools to understand its foundations, societal impact, and workplace strategies.

Climate change is intensely impacting the earth, with profound implications now and in the future. Learners will participate in interactive discussions and content about climate change, from the local to global levels. The material will explore both the science and personal actions we can take to tackle climate change. The material covered will also empower learners with tools and resources to understand the foundations of climate change, its impact on our societies, and how to navigate a changing climate. For the duration of learning, examples are provided to help equip learners with credible and practical information on how to act on climate change within their workplace roles.

Program Information

What you’ll learn studying Acting on Climate Change:

  • Describe the fundamentals of climate change science    
  • Explain observed and projected trends in the climate  
  • Identify the implications (impacts) of climate change in the local and global context 
  • Understand vulnerability in the context of climate change 
  • Identify mitigation actions as well as how to adapt to the negative impacts of climate change  
  • Demonstrate how resilience to climate change can be fostered through action

  • Individuals of all backgrounds seeking a comprehensive understanding of climate change, actionable insights, and tools to make informed decisions and take impactful personal and workplace actions.

PREREQUISITES

  • No prerequisites are required to take this course.
  • The course can be utilized as an elective towards gaining a Leadership in Environmental Sustainability Certificate.​

TECHNOLOGY REQUIREMENTS

  • General computer and technology use abilities
  • Working laptop with high-speed internet access

To successfully complete your program, you will need to complete all the components outlined in your course. Your progress will be continuously evaluated using a variety of formative and/or summative assessments to receive a final mark. Information about these assessment methods will be provided in the Learning Management System on the first day of the program. 

Intake Details

This is an online course offering that allows learners the opportunity to connect with the instructor and their peers during synchronous class times. Synchronous sessions are not mandatory and sessions will be recorded and shared with learners.
