Wine Regions of the World

Gain an appreciation for the wide variety of wines from around the world. During the 8 weeks of learning, you will taste wines from a variety of distinct appellations, and learn to identify different characteristics of the regions all while developing your ability to communicate your personal tastes.

A special interest course designed to deepen and refine your wine tasting skills in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.  Discover the major wine regions of the world as you learn and taste wines from historic Old World regions as well as our emerging New World.  Develop your palate as you become familiar with wines and the viticultural areas in which they are grown. Wines covered include Italy, France, Germany, South Africa, Spain, Portugal, New Zealand, Australia, Chile, Argentina and Canada.

Learners are asked to bring their own reusable water bottle, all other materials are provided.

Prerequisites

  • General computer and technology use abilities.
  • You must be 18 years of age or older as of the first day of classes to take this course.

Technology Requirements

For in-person and online studies:
  • Laptop: Minimum Windows 10 or equivalent operating system. Recommended 8GB of RAM and at least 16 GB of free hard disk space and Wi-Fi capabilities.
Online studies only:
  • Access to reliable high-speed broadband internet access (Cable, DSL, LTE) with a minimum bandwidth of 15 Mbps is recommended.
  • Laptop must include integrated webcam and microphone.

Graded Programs: (courses, micro-creds, micro-certificates, professional certificates)

To successfully complete your program, you will complete all components of the program. Your progress will be continuously evaluated using a variety of formative and/or summative assessments to receive a final mark. Information about these assessment methods will be provided in the Learning Management System on the first day of the program.

Non-Graded Programs: (workshops and possibly corporate/custom training)

This program does not include any assessments.

Intake Details

Educational or training sessions where participants physically attend a specific location at a designated time to receive instruction, engage in activities, and interact with instructors and fellow participants face-to-face.
