Building on what you learned in Special Education Part 1, you’ll explore exceptionalities in greater depth, refine your instructional practice, and strengthen the strategies you use to design inclusive, accessible learning environments.
You will apply ministry policies, professional standards, and current research to authentic classroom and school scenarios, learning how to navigate complex decisions with sound professional judgment. You’ll enhance your skills in UDL, differentiated instruction, trauma-informed practice, culturally responsive pedagogy, and assistive technology. You’ll learn how to create IEPs and transition plans that truly reflect student strengths, needs, and aspirations, while developing your ability to collaborate effectively with families, colleagues, Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and community partners.
By the course end, you’ll be equipped to advocate for students and families, lead inclusive programming, and contribute to meaningful change in your school and community as a reflective, equity-driven educator.
