We strive to create and foster a healthy, safe and environmentally sustainable workplace. At Brock, we take employee wellness seriously!
Brock University is committed to raising awareness and reducing the stigma around mental health. Brock supports its employees in all aspects of well-being through continually enhancing our programs to meet the ever-changing needs of our employees. Proactive initiatives, in addition to Wellness Day, include our mental health training programs, educational seminars and various employee benefit programs designed to strengthen an employee’s overall mental health.
Wellness Day
Wellness Day is a day long event where staff and faculty from across the University participate in various workshops offered in eight different areas of wellness: social, emotional, physical, financial, intellectual, environmental, occupational and spiritual. All Brock employees who are covered by Brock benefits are eligible to attend.
Health, Safety & Wellness Champion Award
The Health, Safety & Wellness (HSW) Champion Award annually recognizes Brock faculty and staff, either as individuals or as a department, for championing a culture of health, safety and wellness at Brock University. This award is intended to recognize employee contributions to wellness at Brock.
Volunteer Week
Every year, Brock University offers staff and faculty the opportunity to volunteer in the Niagara community during National Volunteer Week. In 2017, Brock sent more than 75 employees into the Niagara community as part of this initiative. Employees are able to choose from a list of community partners, or to bring forward a community partner that they have an established relationship with already.
United Way campaign
Each year, Brock University employees support our local community through our charity of choice — United Way. Thanks to the continued support of the Brock University community, we have proudly raised over $1.5 million for the United Way over the past 15 years.
