Competitive training groups & fees

Structured and grouped by age and experience, swimmers in full-year training squads work toward improving their fitness and skills with regular training practices. It is a requirement that all swimmers in the program will be registered with Swim Ontario at an additional cost of $160-$200 per person per year, dependent on age.

The Brock Niagara Aquatics ‘Bronze’ program is a year-round competitive group that primarily involves swimmers born in 2014 and younger.

‘Bronze’ offers 4 practices per week and attend regional level competitions approximately once per month.

The primary objective of ‘Bronze’ is to teach and develop the fundamental skill basics of competitive swimming while also encouraging swimmers to enjoy the excitement of racing. Swimmers in this group are young and they are going to learn how to participate in swim meets.

Top performers within the ‘Bronze’ program will progress through the Regional level to the Swim Ontario Festivals competition level.

Fee is $1,998.8 for the year with $150 payable at registration and the remainder payable in four instalments – 25% October 1 ($462.2), 25% November 1 ($462.2), 25% January 1 ($462.2), 25% April 1 ($462.2).

The Brock Niagara Aquatics ‘Silver’ program is a year-round competitive group for swimmers born in 2012 and 2013.

‘Silver’ offers 5 practices per week and swimmers will attend regional competitions and progress to provincial level competitions as their skills and performance improve. Opportunities to participate in Team Travel meets may be made available to swimmers in this group depending on whether a swimmer meets the time standard for participation.

‘Silver’ will be a group focused on perfecting basic competitive swimming skills and developing training and racing habits. It is this program’s aim to inspire the ‘Silver’ group swimmers to want to improve their swimming and progress with our program. The ‘Silver’ program will introduce a weekday morning practice on Wednesday mornings. Training on weekday mornings is a reality of higher-level swimming so the aim is to introduce that practice at this level.

Silver group will have 1x a week dryland training which will be provided by Brock sports Performance.

Top performers in the ‘Silver’ program will progress through the Regional level to the Swim Ontario Festivals competition level and be prepared to progress to the Ontario Youth-Junior Swimming Championships (OYJ) and Ontario Swimming Championships (OSC) levels.

The program comprises two fees: Swim fee ($2,261.8) and Brock sports performance fee ($900). The initial registration requires a $150 deposit with the remainder of the fees payable in four instalments, 25% October 1 ($752.95), 25% November 1 ($752.95), 25% January 1 ($752.95), 25% April 1 ($752.95).

The Brock Niagara Aquatics ‘Gold’ program is a year-round competitive group for swimmers born in 2010 and 2011. This is an exciting age group to work with as swimmers can harness their skills and improve rapidly.

‘Gold’ will offer 6 water practices a week and we will encourage all participants in this program to sign up for the Brock Sports Performance APP program to properly introduce dryland fundamentals to these emerging swimmers.

Most swimmers in ‘Gold’ should be well versed in swim meet competition and be focused on building on strong fundamental skills to learn more advanced skills aimed at elevating their competitive swimming performance level. Opportunities to participate in Team Travel meets may be made available to swimmers in this group depending on whether a swimmer meets the time standard for participation.

Top performers in the ‘Gold’ program will progress through the Regional level to Provincial and National level competition.

The program comprises two fees: Swim fee ($2,524.80) and Brock sports performance fee ($900). The initial registration requires a $150 deposit with the remainder of the fees payable in four instalments, 25% October 1 ($818.70), 25% November 1 ($818.70), 25% January 1 ($818.70), 25% April 1 ($818.70).

The Brock Niagara Aquatics ‘Crystal’ program is a year-round competitive group for swimmers born 2009 and older that wish to continue to progress in competitive swimming and pursuing performance goals but may also have participants with other extra-curricular interests away from the pool.

‘Crystal’ will offer 6 practices per week, participation in the Brock Sports Performance APP program is optional but encouraged as a great way to learn and develop proper dryland fundamentals.

‘Crystal’ swimmers will be offered the opportunity to participate in swim meets in-line with their commitment and performance levels. The ‘Crystal’ group will aim to continue to teach skills, develop training capacity, while offering a focus on fun, fitness, and friendships.

Top performers in the ‘Crystal’ program can range from Regional level performers to the Provincial level and potentially beyond and be eligible to progress into the Diamond program.

Fee is $2524.8 for the year with $150payable at registration and the remainder payable in four installments – 25% October 1 ($593.5), 25% November 1 ($593.5), 25% January 1 ($593.5), 25% April 1 ($593.5).

The Brock Niagara Aquatics ‘Diamond’ program is a group focused on harnessing top level personal performance aiming towards high performance level swimming. Registration in the ‘Diamond’ program is available to be applied for, but participation must be approved by the Head Coach.

‘Diamond’ will offer 8 practices per week, most of which will be integrated with the Brock Badgers Varsity swim programs. All swimmers in the ‘Diamond’ program are expected to participate in the Brock Sports Performance APP program. Practice attendance must be a priority for participants in this program.

‘Diamond’ swimmers will participate in regular competitions, will have the opportunity for Team Travel meets, and competitions regionally, provincially, nationally, and in some cases Internationally.

Some Diamond swimmers may also participate in High Performance programs like the Ontario Swim Academy (OSA) and/or the High Performance Centre – Ontario (HPC-O).

The initial registration requires a $150 deposit with the remainder of the fees payable in four instalments, 25% October 1 ($1246.3), 25% November 1 ($1246.3), 25% January 1 ($1246.3), 25% April 1 ($1246.3).

Swim Ontario registration fee

Competitive-team members are required to pay an annual registration fee to Swim Ontario/Swimming Canada. This fee is age-dependent and will be invoiced with the swimmer’s first instalment. With this registration, team members are allowed the privilege of training or competing at sanctioned competitions anywhere in the world.

Competition costs

Competition fees are in addition to training fees; these will include entry fees payable to the host club. Other fees may include, where offered, competition travel/accommodation costs incurred and paid by the club on behalf of the swimmer and Coaches. A coaching fee is charged per meet which covers the expenses of the coaches, this fee varies according to the amount of expenses. Competition costs are outlined in the meet announcements.

Multiple-child discount

Applicable to full-season groups only, training fees are discounted by 10% on lowest fee for the second child in a family; 20% on lowest fee for third child in a family; etc. Discount is applied at final instalment payment.

Trial period

Swimmers new to the competitive team, joining a full-year group for the first time, are given a two-week trial period at the start of the season before any financial commitment is required; i.e., membership fees will be billed after the trial period is over.
