Teachable Subject Clarification Form

This form is mandatory for all students applying to the Intermediate/Senior (B30) division, and must be submitted by the December 10, 2025 deadline.

We have developed this information sheet to assist you with completing your Teachable Subject Clarification Form, which will show on your Brock student portal as Required for Assessment after you apply.

For the most comprehensive overview of teachable subject requirements and for general guidance on what courses may satisfy a teachable subject requirement, carefully review the Intermediate/Senior academic requirements and FAQs on our website.

The Teachable Subject Clarification Form is where you will identify the courses you have completed (or are completing) that satisfy the teachable subject(s) you have applied to. The onus is on the student to review their courses, and to clearly articulate which courses are most applicable and appropriate to the corresponding teachable subjects they have applied to.

You do not need to list all courses from your transcript; only those you believe are directly applicable to the teachable subjects areas on your application.

The upper section of the form is where you MUST indicate:

  • The first teachable and second teachable you applied for
  • The full course code, title, and institution where you completed each of the 5.0 credits for your first teachable and each of the 3.0 credits for your second teachable. This includes completed courses and those in progress. Example: PSYC 1F90 – Introduction to Psychology – Brock University
  • Note that at the time of application, you must present a minimum of 3.0 of 5.0 completed credits (with final grades) for your first teachable subject and 2.0 of 3.0 completed credits (with final grades) for your second teachable subject.
  • If you apply to other teachable subject combinations, you will repeat this action for all teachable subject courses completed or in progress

The lower section of the form is where you MAY clarify your courses

  • This section should be used if any of the courses listed in the upper section of the form are not a clear indicator that they are relevant for the teachable subject(s) you wish it to be considered for.
  • Most course titles are self-evident, and, in such cases, no clarification is required. However, if there are concerns that any of the course titles you have listed in the upper section do not clearly, obviously, and directly associate with the teachable subjects you’ve applied to, this is your opportunity to clarify this for the Admissions team.
    • For example, if you believe there is enough Biology content in a Geology course you completed, then you may clarify this course. Another example may be a cross-listed course, which may be considered towards satisfying teaching subject requirements.

PLEASE NOTE: Though we may consider a course that you have clarified, it is not guaranteed that the information you provide will satisfy the teachable subject requirements.

  • The onus is on the student to demonstrate the applicability of each course listed with the teachable subject it is meant to represent. You will increase the quality of your application by providing as much context and clarity as possible.
  • We also ask that you email [email protected] with any course descriptions/syllabi that will support your case that particular courses are applicable to the teachable subjects you are applying to.
  • Course assessments will be completed on the basis of the documentation you provide at the time of application.

Admissions will not pre-assess or pre-approve your courses for you. Ensure you apply early and take the time necessary to research your course history, collect and submit course syllabi (where necessary), and submit the form via your Brock student portal by the firm December 10, 2025, deadline.
