The Master of Sport Management (MSM) equips students with the practical skills and professional knowledge needed to pursue a wide range of careers in sport management. This interdisciplinary graduate program takes a holistic approach, focusing on data-driven decision-making and strategic development in sport management. The curriculum blends theory and practice to develop the critical skills required to meet the demands of the industry.

Admission requirements

  • A four-year bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) from an accredited institution, in a sport and/or business related field, with a minimum average of 80% in the last two years of study.
  • Applicants should have completed introductory undergraduate courses in: (sport) marketing, (sport) finance or accounting, and statistical analysis/quantitative methods/research methods. Applicants without these introductory courses may still be considered for admission, though additional coursework may be required.
  • Applicants that are required to provide proof of English language proficiency must meet the standard graduate minimum requirements (IELTS 6.5 overall, with no band below 6.0, or an approved equivalent), as outlined on the Graduate English Language Proficiency webpage.

Application materials

In addition to the online application and payment of the non-refundable application fee, applicants are required to submit:

  • Transcripts from all previous post-secondary study.
  • Two (2) references (at least one must be academic) – Brock will reach out to the referees noted in your application to secure confidential reference reports.
  • Statement of intent, conveying the applicant’s rationale for applying to the program with an emphasis on their experience and learning from practical placements, and should describe how the program will help to advance their professional and academic aspirations.
  • A current resume/CV.
  • In reviewing all applications, the program may also invite applicants for an interview to determine suitability and obtain additional information.
