Investigations Manager

Chris Breton is the Investigations Manager at Brock University. Chris is a licensed lawyer with 5+ years of experience in human rights, employment law, and workplace investigations. Chris graduated from Brock University in 2012 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy. After obtaining his BA at Brock, Chris attended Texas A&M University School of Law where he graduated Cum Laude in 2017.

Upon completion of his law degree, Chris moved back to Ontario and began articling with OP Law Professional Corporation. During his articling with OP Law Chris assisted in conducting complex workplace investigations related to complaints under the Ontario Human Rights Code. Chris was called to the Ontario Bar as a lawyer in 2019.

Before joining Brock University as its Investigation Manager, Chris served as a Human Rights Specialist and later Human Rights, Workplace Harassment and Violence Advisor with Canada Post Corporation where he conducted workplace investigations and managed complaints before the Canadian Human Rights Commission.

As an investigator, Chris performs his work with the highest regard for confidentiality, procedural fairness, trauma informed practices, and neutrality. Chris’ philosophy in conducting investigations is to ensure all parties feel like their voices are heard at the conclusion of the investigation and that they are given fair and equal treatment throughout the investigative process.
