A study permit is a document issued by the Government of Canada that allows foreign nationals to study at designated learning institutions (DLIs) in Canada. It can also allow you to work if you meet the eligibility requirements.
A study permit is distinct from a travel document such as a visa or Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA). For more on these documents, see Travelling to Canada.
