Guatemala
Exploring Guatemalan Indigenous Education & Culture: Experiencing Mayan Communities
Explore local and global issues in Guatemala with this international field course. Join Dr. Michael O’Sullivan for an immersive field experience where you learn from Maya indigenous communities about their ongoing struggles to reclaim their culture after 500 years of colonialism and a 36-year genocidal civil war that claimed the lives of 200,000 Maya and devastated entire indigenous regions. Study school settings in Maya communities and other forms of cultural transmission and recuperation, including families, community groups, music, and language acquisition.

Isle of Man
Exploring Viking and Medieval History
Discover the rich history and heritage of the Isle of Man during the Age of the Sea Kings. Explore Viking monuments, Late Norse sites, and medieval castles, churches, fortifications, and assembly sites. Understand the significance of these periods in shaping the unique culture of the Island, its heritage industry, and its government. Immerse yourself in the fascinating past of the Isle of Man and its enduring legacy.
Additional Considerations
- The travel portion of the course will involve walking for as much as 1 km over uneven terrain to visit heritage sites; participants must be physically able to do so.

Art Studies Abroad in Bilbao, Spain
Immerse yourself in the unique cultural events and regional settings of Bilbao, Spain, and its surrounding areas. Italy
Archaeological Practicum Pantelleria
Pantelleria island, ancient Cossyra, holds the key to understanding how Punic and Roman populations interrelated during and after the Punic Wars. The Brock University Archaeological Project at Pantelleria is excavating a Punic-Roman temple on the edge of a volcanic spring lake. The goal of the Practicum is to train participants in a hands-on fashion so they will be qualified to work on other projects as effective and knowledgeable excavators with a minimum of supervision. Students can earn 1.0 credit for enrolling in CLAS 3F75 with permission of the instructor.

England
London Field Course
Spend eight days walking the streets of London, stopping at iconic locations and buildings to learn more about their significance to London and the world. Walk through the Hyde Park gardens, visit King’s Cross Station, wave hello to the royal family at Buckingham Palace, climb up the Tower Bridge, and watch time pass along the River Thames. After taking this field course, you will see London in a completely new light.

- Participating students may be eligible for Brock International Mobility Funding through Student Accounts and Financial Aid.
- The Faculty of Social Sciences Travel Award will cover up to 75% of costs for airfare, ground transportation, and accommodations up to $2,168 (excludes tuition).

Who can apply?
This international field course is open to all Brock students with two GEOG credits, two TOUR (TGMT/TREN) credits, or permission of the instructor. Priority will be given to Geography and Tourism majors in their third and fourth years of study, however, all Brock students in any year of study are welcome to apply.
