Gender & Sexual Violence Intake Manager

As the Manager of Gender and Sexual Violence (GSV) Intake, Katie is a dedicated advocate for survivors, committed to anti-oppressive, decolonial practices, trauma-informed care, and survivor-centered support. She works directly with survivors at Brock, providing guidance and ensuring they understand their options, while also leading GSV programs and strategies for violence prevention and response. Her lived experience as a survivor and her academic background in Social Justice and Equity Studies enhance her leadership. Katie strives to foster a culture of consent, accountability, and empowerment.

Tassia’s career is driven by her deep interest in the human condition and a strong commitment to creating meaningful change. Her journey began with a BA in Sociology and extensive volunteer work, which solidified her dedication to making a positive impact. She advanced her education with a Master’s in Counselling Psychology and is now a registered psychotherapist. Tassia is passionate about social justice, focusing on combating oppression, decolonizing mental health services, and raising awareness in under-resourced communities.

Gender & Sexual Violence Support & Education Coordinator

Taylor brings nearly a decade of experience in supporting victims of violence, grounded in her Criminal Justice & Public Policy degree from the University of Guelph. Her career in victimology was shaped by her concern for the prevalence of sexual violence on university campuses. She has provided phone support through CARSA and SAVIS, facilitated in-person assistance at the University of Guelph’s Office of Diversity & Human Rights, and worked as a Hospital Response Worker for sexual violence victims. While at Victim Services Niagara, she managed a caseload and led a volunteer support team. As an ally, Taylor is dedicated to supporting students, leveraging her extensive knowledge of the Niagara Region and its local resources.
